Freshers' Updates
Throughout the induction period, the MCR Exec (Executive Committee) and our dedicated team of Freps (Freshers' representatives) will launch the academic year with a huge range of exciting events!

Update: 5:00am (BST) 22/09/21
Sadly, the two formals scheduled for Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th have been modified into one Welcome Dinner on the Friday. This is down to the industry-wide shortage of catering staff that has unfortunately caught up with us, along with increased lead times on stock deliveries. We are sad that these formals are unable to happen, but our fantastic food & beverages team in Castle are working incredibly hard on getting formals ready to begin at the start of term, so there will be many to look forward to throughout the academic year. We cannot wait to introduce you to these much-loved college community events!
Instead, we are very pleased to announce a Welcome Dinner in the Great Hall of Castle on Friday 24th, at 7pm! The format will be different to a formal, with dress code of formal wear, and gowns are encouraged. It's going to be a fantastic dining opportunity in College followed by the programmed port and cheese in the Bishop's Dining Room!
Note that you will be able to pick up your gown from 4-6:30pm in the MCR on the Friday, in addition to all the MCR Drop-Ins after then!
The (NEW) deadline for dietary requirements for the Friday Welcome Dinner AND all other events is *Wed 22nd at 13:00 (BST)*.
If you signed up originally for the Thursday formal on 23rd, your place will be transferred to the Friday Welcome Dinner. Likewise, if you signed up originally for the Friday formal on 24th, your place will be maintained for the Friday Welcome Dinner.
However, please feel free to come along for our new event, Great Hall Takeover on Thursday, 7pm!

The PGR Welcome Coffee originally on 11:00–12:30, Monday 27th September has been directly switched with the MCR Drop-in & Fair 10:00-13:00 originally on Tuesday 28th September. This is due to a clash with a PGR University Induction!

Sign-up is no longer required for our Casino Royale night, just turn up on the night in formal dress and with your Freshers' Passport! Please have your LFT ready to be checked and bring cash (for the bar) and your ID!

Tonight's choose your adventure will still go ahead despite the weather but be a more low-key event. Feel free to come to the MCR at 19:30 and depending on numbers we'll decide on some adventures. A reminder that tomorrow is an early start and a long day, so we don't want people getting soaked tonight or feeling obligated to attend if they've signed up for tonight's event.

Sadly today's croquet event has been cancelled due to inclement weather (it's hard to play a lawn sport when it is very rainy)! We'll see you for board games tonight at Kepier!
